MacroMonkey is a calorie and macronutrient tracking app built and operated by an independent developer. This policy explains exactly what the app collects, where it goes, and how to get rid of it.
There are no advertisements in MacroMonkey, no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs, and your information is never sold, rented, or shared with data brokers or advertisers.
Creating an account requires an email address and a password. Accounts are handled by Google Firebase Authentication. Your password is stored by Firebase in hashed form and is never visible to the developer.
Google's infrastructure records standard operational data such as IP addresses, timestamps, and basic device information, in order to run the service and protect it from abuse. The app itself does not collect device identifiers or build any advertising profile.
MacroMonkey asks for camera permission for one purpose: scanning barcodes on food packaging.
The camera feed is processed on your device to read the barcode. No photo or video is ever saved, uploaded, or transmitted. The only thing that leaves your phone is the decoded barcode number, which is used to look up the product's nutrition information.
MacroMonkey uses Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, and Cloud Functions to run accounts, store your data, and handle food lookups. Your account and log data are stored on Google's servers as part of providing the app. Google acts as the infrastructure provider and does not use this data for its own advertising purposes.
Nutrition information comes from the FatSecret Platform API. When you search for a food or scan a barcode, the search text or barcode number is sent to FatSecret through the app's own server.
FatSecret does not receive your identity. Your email address, your account, your goals, and your food log are never sent to them — only the words you searched for.
Information is disclosed to no other parties, except where required by law.
As the operator of the service, the developer has administrative access to the database and could technically view stored account and log data. This access is used only for maintaining and troubleshooting the app, and passwords are not accessible to anyone, including the developer.
Your information is kept for as long as your account exists.
You can delete your account at any time from inside the app: open Settings, tap "Delete account", and confirm with your password. This permanently removes your account, your goals, and every food entry you have logged. It cannot be undone.

Connections between the app and its servers are encrypted in transit. Database access rules are enforced on the server so that a signed-in user can read and write only their own data. No system is perfectly secure, and no guarantee of absolute security can be made.
MacroMonkey is not directed at children under 13, and information is not knowingly collected from them. If you believe a child has created an account, email the address below and it will be deleted.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new "last updated" date. Material changes affecting how your information is handled will be communicated in the app.
